Aidan Emory climbed up onto the monkey bars, hanging on them upside down, gravity making his red hair stand on end. He then closed his eyes. Upside down on the monkey bars at the playground two blocks from his house was his favorite thinking spot. It didn't matter that he was allowed to go pretty much anywhere, that his tall, lanky 14-year-old frame barely fit underneath the bars and that his head was practically sitting in the sand, that rush of blood to it making his thinking time short before he'd have to climb out from under the bars and rejoin society. None of that mattered because he was content here.
